Chris Lanter was born in New York City but grew up in Atlanta, Ga. His father, an architect, was the director of Georgia Tech’s Fine Arts Program in Paris where Lanter spent two years of his youth. After attending the University and working at DePalma’s restaurant in Athens, Georgia, he returned to France where he was classically trained in French cuisine. Lanter cooked for two years professionally in Auvergne, l’Île de Groix, and Paris.
Upon his return from France, Lanter worked for BuckheadLife Group in Atlanta’s top restaurants and moved to Aspen in 1997. He was sous chef at Campo de Fiori and then executive sous at Caribou Club. He has been the executive chef at Cache Cache since August 2000 and has owned the restaurant with his business party, Jodi Larner, since June 2004.
Lanter has been the chef for NORML’s Aspen legal seminar for the last eight years. He has been an edibles and sativa judge for High Times Magazine Cannabis Cup in Denver. Most recently, Lanter was featured in a VICE video entitled “A Weed Infused Dinner at Hunter S. Thompson’s House” as part of their “Munchies” series. He has always been a staunch advocate for the legalization of marijuana and personal freedom.
